Malacca
Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 2:04 PM 3 comments

Sigh, I don't even want to talk about why my bangkok trip tak jadi, AGAIN. Planning to go again next year, April. Already booked air tickets and such, hope this time jadi la.

Since we had extra few days in west coast, we went to Malacca instead. I wouldn't say it was a satisfying trip (aiya allow me to whine la my bangkok trip tak jadi, sobs sobs) but I did enjoy sight seeing around the area. Here are some photos to share :

We bumped into a photography outing group on the day we arrived, I thought this photographer was interesting because he composed and stay there for quite a while (making HDRs??)

There's definitely alot alot of red/maroon in Malacca

Abit sad isn't it? The street was so quiet...so was the temple, and she was sitting all alone.

Love love love this tattoo parlour ! Too bad it was closed. By appointment only.

Our flag

We then proceed to the St. Paul's Hill, it was raining as we were going up, therefore i didn't take many photos.

Beautiful texture, I want to clone stamp this and make this a texture.

That pretty much sums up my Malacca trip !

Kazillion things to blog
Thursday, October 16, 2008, 1:26 PM 3 comments

I wouldn't necessarily say that these past 2 weeks were busy but there were certainly alot of things going on and I'm just trying to finish up whatever work on hand before I depart for my Bangkok-KL trip this coming Saturday. And I did ! (Sorta). I still have another half day shoot tomorrow and then off I go. Honestly speaking, I'm more eager to go home and meet my family in KL instead of going to Bangkok. I must say I prefer road trips instead of travelling to another country. Unless I really have alot of cash, then I probably wouldn't mind. :)

Tung Sing and Angel's wedding (Sarike-Sibu). Just two of my favorites of the children in their wedding.

[Alfred and Samantha's wedding]. I've been anticipating for this shoot because I know how much Samantha value these photographs. I've shot some [pre wedding] photos for them too.

Then there's [Kelvin and Xue Qing's wedding] too. It was only later I found out that Kelvin is very good at badminton. (I'm a badminton fanatic as well)

img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3150/2945759397_47ee0f9d38_o.jpg">

Ricky and Shierly's wedding (I'm trying to squeeze as much as I can in this blog post). Absolutely good looking couple ! Ricky is actually from Si Chuan China, they actually met each other when they were studying in US.

Spilled some on my lens, too.

Siew Keong and Eileen's pre wedding shoot. Finally finished retouching this set. Another good looking couple. Both working in Miri now. I'm looking forward to shoot their wedding day in December.

I love this series overall. I have to thank them for willing to participate in my crazy idea of shooting at odd locations.

My good friend [Jeanie], she really left for good. We had a farewell party for her. We did a serie that can relate to how she feel sometimes. Don't you agree that we all just need brand new start at some point of our life?

Jeanie and I probably started off on the wrong foot. We didn't get along when we first get to know each other. Time has proven me wrong. I've grown to like this person, I like her honestly, I like her boldness, I love her strengths and I also love her vulnerabilities. I am sad that now I can't see her as often as I like to, I know I've probably would never say this to her face to face but I truly enjoyed her companionshp while she was here. So I wish you all the luck in the world girl, don't forget you will always have us to back you up over here.

There's so many other things I wan't to blog about too. I now can bake, too ! (can't believe I can do such girlish thing) Thanks to Jeanie.

I will make another blog post when I'm back, so 'till then, take care !

"It's a lie"
"It's a bunch of sad strangers photograph beautifully and all the glittering assholes who appreciate art say it beautiful cuz that's what they wanna see. But the people in the photos are sad, and alone, but the pictures make the world seem beautiful. So, the exhibition really assuring. Which makes it a lie, and everyone loves a big fat lie."

Quote Natalie Portman in Closer

I love this picture so much.

And Natalie Portman is so so so beautiful.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008, 2:19 PM 4 comments

。。hmm..

I feel so sleepy now, I slept around 2am last night and woke up 7am this morning. I got a batch of photos completed this morning and now I am more at ease. So many batches stacking up, let me post some of my favorite shots from Patrick and Yien Ling's Wedding last month.

I like the curves on this shoes, simple and nice.

A very moving speech by the groom, alot of the audience got teared up during this moment. Even I did.

The little boy melts your heart, doesn't he? So adorable.

Coming up will be my Bintangor trip !

Amusing
Monday, September 8, 2008, 4:21 PM 2 comments

I don't know why i find this picture amusing. Haha, i just love the expressions on their faces. What happened was I thought this kid look cute so as usual I point my camera at him, he imediately shy away, and look at his grandmother. His grandmother on the other hand thought he did something annoying (I assume, making faces at me or something) so she stared at him fiercely. Haha, his expression was as if he was telling his grandma : "I didn't do anything !". I just love it.

Project Runway
Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:35 PM 3 comments

I'm a Project Runway fan.

I do not know much about fashion...i enjoy watching the show simply because i love the creating process.

I was watching Project Runway Australia on youtube, and surprised to see a Malaysian designer on the show. His name is Lui Hon Wee Min and he's Malaysian living in Australia.

He is very very talented. I didn't manage to see our own Malaysia Project Runway, sad, my best friend Quin won second place and her final collection is simply breathtaking. Anyway, let's not get away. Lui has got a very distintive style, his work is very youthful and i like his attention to details. He got to the top 4 now and i'm waiting for them to post newer episodes. I certainly hope he get all the way to top 3. Make us proud, we need this !

This is Lui, quite good looking in my opinion. He seem like a really nice guy on the show. Very polite and timid.

Photobucket

I super love this dress. The theme was 60s. I know it looks pretty ordinary here...but the details on the back and sleeves is so amazing...can't find any other picture so settled for this.

I also love this design, it's sort of his signature work. Layers. But i find it awfully similar to Jay Mccaroll's (Project Runway US season 1 winner) work. Maybe because of the headphones, i don't know. The judges said something like :"It seems like you need a user manual just to put this outfit on." Heck, life is boring, we need something like this to make our life more interesting, don't you think? If not, why "FASHION" exists?

Go Lui, I wish him the best of luck !

His sister so generous..bought him an authentic Louis Vuitton wallet...(i think cost atleast 3k, so envious)

Ofcourse, a photo with the handsome lad

This little girl too cute

Andrew's Surprise Party
Thursday, August 14, 2008, 10:09 PM 0 comments

I'm back ! Before i resume to my work...let me make a blog post first.

(Note : Beware of crappy pics ahead ! Had too little time to shoot, and my friend hasn't emailed me the pics yet. Why they never email one la)

Let's talk about Andrew's 33rd Birthday !

This was not the first surprise party for him, if i remember correctly, i organized atleast 3-4 surprise party for him. You would think since i do it every year, he won't be surprised anymore. Well, I have to say with some help from my friends, this party turns out to be a rather successful (minus a few incidents here and there) one.

Venue :
The new Le Ark Cafe was an obvious choice for me. I just looove the design of the building. Andrew and I passed by it couple of times and we were always saying once it opens we will go and try their food. Well, it did open officially and once i've found out, i immediately made reservations with them.

Food :
Buffet style

Cake :
I didn't want ordinary cake, (not my style). I actually wanted Cupcakes, but i don't think there's any bakery in Sibu makes decorative cupcakes. So i settle with these choco waffles (not sure if this is the correct name)

Guests :
We really have a large group of friends, especially those that play badminton with us almost few times a week. But i can't invite them all due to budget issue, so i nailed it down to 20 person, mostly close friends, including some of his personal friends too.

Theme :
The space they offered us for the party was on the second floor, and it's an open air area facing the Rejang River. With dim lights, it really looks like we're on the beach ! (pathetic, i know) So, the theme was ofcourse Hawaiian !

Dress Code :
Casual, colourful, easy ! Hawaiian !

My friend Shun was incharge of deco for me, but he was away in KL until the day before the actual date of his birthday. I must admit i was very anxious and i thought we couldn't get things done perfectly since we had such time crunch. On the day itself, i left them plan on the deco. Andrew had to work that afternoon and i resume my normal routine which was badminton game. (I didn't want him to suspect anything la)

I asked them to lay some coconut tree leaves on the table, but what they did was far more than that. They even weaved a flower necklace for Andrew using wild flowers gathered in Jeanie house. Jeanie's father was so kind, he was the one that used a parang knife and cut the tree leaves for us. And all of it costs ZERO.

I want to thanks Jeanie and Shun for the planning, and everyone else for helping on the deco, i don't care what he thinks, but i really loved the atmosphere when i stepped in. I was stunned !

Flaws:

On the day of the event, both Sibu and Kuching had a massive blackout, it happened around 6.30pm, lasted 'till about 8+ (i think). The venue was set on 8pm, but Andrew wanted to go out earlier due to the blackout, ofcourse he thought we were just having regular dinner on our own. The original plan was, they sing birthday song upon our arrival. But when we got there, they were still decorating the place. I remember Andrew was telling me :" Eh other people are having party, we better enter from another side". Yes, he was very very surprised when he saw familiar faces, imagine the look on his face, priceless !

There were only 16 people at the party, the rest never showed up. I guess they were too busy to inform me. (apa lah i wasted all the food la, ofcourse i mad)

The bakery charged me extra RM 30 just to rent the three tier steel rack as opposed to the original :"Oh we only collect deposits." statement. But i manage to bargain and they have returned me RM 15.00. Not too bad.

The cakes are way too sweet !

Photo taken by Simon, further edited by me, hahaha.

Nonetheless, it was still a very special night. The most important thing was probably spending it with the company of such wonderful friends.

PS : And oh best dress goes to Kenny ! (the one holding coconut beside Andrew) . He didn't even wear shoes to the party ! So Hawaiian right?

Housing Roadshow
Friday, August 1, 2008, 8:26 PM 6 comments

The first Sibu Housing Roadshow organized by Sheeda and Veto Event Management was also my first official event shooting.

When Jessica and Jamie (from Veto) approached me to be their photographer, i was very concerned. Shooting events is not really my forte, i was afraid that i might not be able to deliver a good job. Honestly there was also something else that bothers me : I was afraid that it may not have much room for me to express my creativity. And if i did it my way, will they like it? Most event photos i've seen are rather flat and boring, taking pictures of local politicians smiling and shaking hands? -_-. No, confirm not my thing at all.

When i express my concern with them, Jamie kindly reassured me that they recruit me because they thought my pictures will be great for their portfolio, and that i can shoot 'my way'. They are very kind people indeed, so i took the job as a challenge and it has proven to be a very good experience for me.

I took alot of photos throughout the event, but i'm just going to post some of my favorites here. Just for the record. ;) (no pictures of Datuk here hahaha)

Setting up, i think this worker brought along his son or something, this little guy was very very helpful !

Reflection on the elevator

The grand opening was scheduled on 11-ish, i arrived around 9am

A gift to the grand VIP, YB Datuk Robert Lau

This was actually shot on the last day of the event, Jessica wanted some crowd photos so i went there and snaps.

Lunch session, remember the mango duck?

Albert and Elizabeth (Bridal Photos re-shoot)
7:04 AM 8 comments

Yes more weddings !

This is actually a re-shoot session for Albert and Elizabeth because they actually already married and did their bridal shoot in Kuching sometime ago. We had abit of difficulty at first, i've arranged 2 sessions in a weekend but it didn't work out because on the 2nd day, the weather was really moody and foggy. Then we postphoned it to the following Sunday. I'm glad things work out fine after that. Sometimes weather is such a biatch and i just want to strangle myself. -_-

Gorgeous sunlight

This turn out to be my favorite favorite shot, love the texture on these rocks.

We passed by this gorgeous flower field and i just had to shoot here, thank you Uncle for giving permission ya.

Andrew being the perfect asistance as usual :)

Hiew and Lilian's Wedding
Thursday, July 17, 2008, 8:17 AM 5 comments

I've been wanting to blog about Hiew and Lilian's wedding for so long ! I shot their wedding last month and i just couldn't stop telling everybody how articulate and well organized the wedding is.

Hiew, being a project manager himself, is naturally good at planning events and functions. So it's no surprise that he took charge of every details. From selecting bridal studio to door gifts for guests, yes the bride didn't have to worry about anything !

These are actually fake rings, i shot this before their wedding at Hiew's house

Their invitation card

Hiew has very good taste, i absolutely love his choice of vehicle.

Lilian's dinner dress, all of the above shot before the actual day.

Finally the day arrives, shot through the window

Gorgeous

Yes i love the hands thing, i think hands are very expressive

Lilian's mother

Her bouquet, when i hold it i had a slight shock because it was so heavy !

Hiew, handsome groom

The making : Alfred and Samantha Prewedding shoot
Monday, July 7, 2008, 12:21 PM 3 comments

Right after the last day of Borneo Culural Festival, i had a pre wedding shoot on the following afternoon. Andrew took some the making photos for me using using our trusted little Nikon Coolpix 3700. (Hey, don't expect too much from this 3.2mp camera, thou)

These two is my favorite ! I'm the one wearing pink, Lisa, the makeup artist for the day, was behind my back catching a shot too. I like the composition of this, haha.

And this !

I have to thank Alfred and Samantha for willing to go through all the hassles for the shoot, it was a short session but definitely wasn't an easy one. I shall post the photos soon once they are ready !

Inspiration : Francesca Woodman
Monday, June 30, 2008, 7:54 AM 5 comments

Francesca Woodman?

Thank you

Things change
Saturday, June 28, 2008, 11:47 AM 3 comments

Yes things do changes.

Last night after we finish packing up and left the booth, we went and join our friends for supper. Some chit chats and conversations led Ah Lian asked us how do we know each, how long we've been married, etc. And surprise surprise, i don't even remember how long we've been married ! Infact, both of us came up with different answers. Andrew said 1 year, i said 2 years, honestly i wasn't really sure. I've forgotten completely about it.

I used to care about such details : like when did we start dating officially, the date we engaged, the date we registered...I cared so much that i wanted him to care, too. But now, i couldn't careless. Is that a bad sign?

On our way home, i told him, maybe i should make a blog post about all the details, so that we can look back from time to time, to remind ourselves all the hardships we've been through to be together. (yes, painful memories) But i don't even know where to start, because i forget, because i couldn't care to remember. And memory just slips away, how cruel.

Maybe it's my social life that's getting me, i love my friends so much, sometimes i even prefer to spend time with them than with my husband. LOL. Yes that's true.

I'm on local newspaper today
Friday, June 27, 2008, 10:34 AM 6 comments

Yes !! I am so surprised to see the artical being posted inside a [local forum] that i frequent, i didn't even know myself, i thought it was going to be publish next week. Thanks to my friend Burgerling for the feature, and i hope i am good enough to be featured. (that's for the viewers to decide)

Side note, [My45.net] sponsored me a small space to display my photographs at their booth at the Borneo Cultural Festival, it starts today, if you are from Sibu, please stop by and visit. I will be there starting from 6-10pm throughout the festival. The prints look really good !!! (i laid them on the floor the other day and looked at them for a long period of time..hahahah)

I gotta run for now, take care and have a nice weekends everybody.

Wedding
Monday, June 16, 2008, 1:59 PM 7 comments

Yea i've finally changed the banner on my blog..it's Lisa up there, now say Hi. :P I miss you gurl, hope we'll have another chance to work together in near future.

I've finally completed a wedding set today, but this client of mine prefers to remain anonymous, therefore, i am not posting their set on my website as portfolio. However, i have couple of highlights to share here on my blog, most without faces, ofcourse. ;)

These are some of my favorite images of the set:

Love love love this shot...so delicate..so beautiful

I just had to shoot this, gorgeous accessory.

Noise worked well for this particular shot.

This church has a very nice nostalgic feeling about it, and i love the glass panel as background, absolutely stunning. I didn't shoot much here because the church rules for photography is quite strict. :(

Yes, raining, more fun i guess?

Another favorite shot of mine...i love sihouette pics like this. The red umbrella added a very nice contrast to the whole image. I did selective black and white on this photo. The black background on both sides aren't photoshoped.

I love this moment when i can photograph freely with no disturbance at all...it was so quiet and serene.

I want to say thank you to Jean (who introduced this couple to me), also their friends whom took care of my bags for me. Kind people still exists these days. ;)

Stanley Carter's Wedding
Friday, June 13, 2008, 12:25 PM 8 comments

Today is the famous and 'handsem' friend of mine, Stanley's wedding...an incredible multimedia artist and drifter (for real !) goes by the name Stanley Carter because of a drift game he invented (too bad i've forgotten the link, i shall post it later on). Ofcourse, it's an hounour for me to witness their wedding too

This is his youtube, check out some of his drifting videos [here]

It's fun to shoot friend's wedding, as opposed to other wedding assignments i usually do. Simply because you can relate to the couple more.

Normally i work alone, therefore i drive myself. But today i have Lien fetched me from bride's house to groom's house, and it was extremely helpful because Stanley mentioned that i must take more photos of the car...i shot alot of frames leaning out of Lien's car window on the road, dangerous but fun fun fun !

Teaser : The classical zoom burst effect

PS : Anyone in Sibu saw us on the street this morning? :P

This is his wedding car for the special day, damn chun, i think it's called evo something (sorry i don't know much about cars, but erhmm, nice color?)

Still have banquet to cover at night, i am going to bed now (it's 12.35pm) to get some nap, perhaps regain some energy for later on.

Finally completed this set...

Many many more to come....(please dont rush me, 慢工出细活, :P)

Stressing out
1:00 PM 3 comments

I am stressing out now.

I have so much to do, but instead of completing the tasks, i am sitting here blogging.-_-

There are alot of things going on, and i am planning something which i can't quite tell you yet, (when the time is near i will), and i hope eventually everything turns out right.

And lately i've been contemplating whether it's possible for me to go back to school and study more. Perhaps i can still work freelance to earn the tuition fee? Who knows. Perhaps i can study art, photography or even language (which i've always wanted to do). Or maybe, i can pick up where i left off, go back and study GD instead (maybe i'll like it this time? LOL)

Maybe i'll start saving money now instead of spending all i have ALL THE FREAKING TIME.

My passion rarely goes away if i truly like something, sometimes i switch simply because i've made the wrong choice. In life, it's all about choices.

I'm still young, i am allowed to make choices. I should probably savor the priviledge.

So why am i wasting my time? What is holding me back?

I guess you know.

Tuesday, June 10, 2008, 7:32 AM 5 comments

Anyway, it was very nice meeting you, Huai Bin. ;)

(imagine a 23 year old preaching a 33 year old)

东窗事发后, who's to blame?
